Plaiting Garlic

posted in: Gardening | 0

In July of 2014 we picked the garlic bulbs that we planted in January, and for a small plot ( 1m squared) we didn’t do too bad. I picked them when the soil was dry, and left them in an airy shed for a few weeks.  For the first time I thought it would be good to plait them in the traditional french style, so I went on the internet and found plenty of videos that showed how to do it.  As of 26th December we still have 4 whole bulbs left, so we’ve been completely self sufficient in Garlics since July, which isn’t bad – especially considering we like our home made curries.

I’ve got a couple more bulbs that I’ll plant very soon – a bit late as usual – so hopefully we can do the same last year.  The most annoying thing was that we picked the onions a few days before, and just chopped all the stalks off, having seen how good the garlic looks we wish we would have done the same with the onions  ( which also lasted upto the end of December).
